Pros

  • The world is gritty and more detailed than ever before!
  • Some elements have been borrowed from Zelda: A Link to the Past.
  • An improved and much better combat system than ever before!

Cons

  • Graphics look outdated compared to games of today.

We saw the release of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which the developers launched in the previous year with a delightful experience. The game, "Prince of Persia: Warrior With" has some of the most detailed and visually colorful levels. You have a variety of complex environmental puzzles, and you will watch some of the most impressive acrobatics from the Prince of Persia.

Welcome Improvements Since the Last Installment

The biggest complaint players had was with the past game having a repetitive and short length combat system, but that has been addressed in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. While the new combat feels satisfying in the long campaign, the developers improved since the game from the previous year. The game has now brought in a more dark tone compared to the Sands of Time. Unfortunately, it falls flat compared to what it could have done. The storybook tone from the last game has been crowded out, and some technical issues for both the PS2 and the Xbox somewhat marred the playing experience.

The Story Continued

Since the previous game, we have seen the story of this title pick up right where last year's left off. To catch you up to date, the prince released the Sands of Time, and he learns a time monster known as the menacing Dahaka has come to devour him and everything within its path. Whatever enters becomes like a black hole. For the prince to escape such a fate, he must take a trip to the past where he will have to take down the Empress of Time. This will prevent the future creation of these sands. Anyone who loved "Back to the Future" enough to suspend their disbelief should have no trouble with this game.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

If you had to look at the similarities between "A Link to the Past" and the "Warrior Within," you'd see how like in Zelda, you're often exploring the same areas, but you see them from two separate time periods. Throughout the fortress, special rooms have been scattered to give you the power to migrate from one world into the next. The parts of the castle change from the past to the present. For example, you see a clockwork tower in the past with some fragile machinery and gigantic gears. In the past, it looked pristine, but once you bring it to the current time, everything looks broken down. Tree branches, for example, poke through the walls, and the machinery has been strewn about the floor. Your path for navigating the rooms will change based on the period you have entered. It's an interesting game with a fairly cool concept, and they pull it off well.
